Reusch Magno Pro M1 Ortho-tec Goalkeeper Gloves

One of the top of the range Reusch Magno goalkeeper glove models - in a striking black and red colour scheme.

You're always safe with Reusch - as everybody knows, one of the world's best goalkeeping brands. Top of the range Reusch gloves like the Magno Pro M1 Ortho Tec are always going to be home-run hitting quality. So what's unique about this model?

Well, first, note the Reusch Ortho Tec hand protection. For goalkeepers for whom hand and finger protection is important, Reusch has led the field for several years with one of the best hand protecting goalkeeper glove technologies.

Conditions: Dry / Damp, Soft Ground
The material used on the palm of the gloves is most suitable for playing on soft ground (i.e. grass and mud, rather than concrete or traditional astro turft).

It is also most suitable for good weather, or normal rainy days. For really badly rainy weather, a specialist wet weather palm might perform better.

Glove range: Magno
The “Magno” range is the range of goalkeeper gloves Reusch first released in February 2010. It’s similar to the Raptor range from February 2009, and the Goaliator range that came out in 2008. The Magno range runs until February 2012, and according to Reusch has been one of their most popular ranges ever.

You can see the Magno’s distinctive design, with the flash pattern across the backhand of the gloves, and the bold colours of red, yellow, blue and black. Used in the backhands of the goalkeeper gloves.

The “Magno” generally refers to the design of the range, not the technical features of different gloves.

Strap: Wrist bandage – wider full strap with textile
Reusch are famous for the amazingly high level of detail they include in all their products. The goalkeeper gloves wrist strap is a great example of this. The standard Reusch strap on the Magno range features a special area designed to leave room for printing your name on, as well as a really nice feature at the end of the strap which allows you to take the gloves off easily (which as all goalkeepers know – is not easy!

‘Pro Flex’
Reusch’s ‘Pro Flex’ is about the backhand of the goalkeeper glove.

The point of Pro Flex is to make the goalkeeper gloves more naturally flexible. Reusch combine layers in the material of the backhand in a specially designed way to allow the gloves to flex particularly well.

This is one of those great details that Reusch incorporate into their top level pro gloves, increasing the comfort of wearing the gloves.

It also contributes to your performance by giving a more natural and instinctive feel of the gloves on the hands.

‘Ortho Tec’
Reusch ‘Ortho Tec’ is Reusch’s name for their unique version of goalkeeper glove finger and hand protection.

Finger and hand protection is now one of the most important keeper glove technologies around, and Reusch’s Ortho Tec is considered by many keepers to be one of the best.

The Reusch finger protection system uses special hard spines in the back of every finger in the gloves, which flex forwards to allow the fingers to bend naturally, but won’t flex backwards. This stops the football bending your fingers back too far – giving you that extra support when the natural strength of your fingers fails you.

The finger spines are like a knee joint: it flexes one way, but when your leg is straight it won’t bend back any more.

Remember that with Reusch gloves featuring Ortho Tec protection, the spines can normally be taken out of the gloves, so anybody who doesn’t want the extra hand protection can just remove the spines and play as normal.

The other really good thing about the Ortho Tec protection is that the spines can be taken out all together, or one by one. So if you feel you need a bit more flexibility in your little finger, for example – just take out the spine.

Palm: ‘M1 Mega Grip’
The Reusch M1 Mega Grip foam is one of Reusch’s top quality professional goalkeeper glove foams.

For a pro quality latex, it’s versatile – good cushioning, decent abrasion resistance, and fantastic grip in normal conditions.

The M1 foam is a specially designed mix of 80% natural latex and 20% synthetic latex, put together for best performance.

Reusch M1 foam is used on a range of Reusch’s top of the range gloves.

Size Guide

Remember - getting your size right is important, but if you aren’t totally happy with the size of the products you order after receiving them, just post them back to us with the product and packaging in their original condition and we’ll send you a size that you prefer.

Goalkeeper Gloves Size Guide (see below for clothing sizes)

Every goalkeeper is different – size depends on how much room you like in your gloves.

Choosing gloves that are the right size for you depends on how tight or loose fitting you like your gloves. Jorge Campos of Mexico, for example, was well known for wearing massive gloves in comparison to the rest of his body. Other keepers, like Peter Shilton, are known to have preferred tight fitting gloves.

Don’t buy gloves that are too big just because they are the “pro” gloves.

We always advise our goalkeepers - and particularly parents of young goalkeepers – that the most important thing in glove sizes is making sure that your gloves aren’t too big. Gloves that don’t fit make it hard to catch. In our opinion, young keepers under the age of 11 should generally be choosing goalkeeper gloves not bigger than size 6.

The most common adult sizes are generally 8 to 10.

Most professional goalkeepers choose gloves ranging from sizes 8 to 10.

Generally, average height players tend to choose sizes 8 to 9, and the bigger guys wear sizes 9 to 11. The sizes most keepers go for are summarized in the table here:

Typical Glove Sizes
Gloves Size Age Range
4 Small Child
5 Medium Child
6 Large Child
7 Youth / Small Adult
8 Medium Adult
9 Medium Adult
10 Large Adult
11 Extra Large Adult

If the size isn’t right, just send your gloves back (while they’re still good as new) and we’ll swap them.

Ordering with us you don't need to worry about this. If you aren't happy with the size of your gloves after you have received them in the post, keep them in their original condition and send them back in their original packaging and we'll send you a size that you prefer. For full details on how to do this, see our Returns page.
