Reusch Keon R1 Ortho-tec Ocean blue/white Goalkeeper Gloves
Strap: Wrist bandage – wider full strap with textile
Reusch are famous for the amazingly high level of detail they include in all their products. The goalkeeper gloves wrist strap is a great example of this. The standard Reusch strap on the Magno range features a special area designed to leave room for printing your name on, as well as a really nice feature at the end of the strap which allows you to take the gloves off easily (which as all goalkeepers know – is not easy!)
Ortho Tec
Reusch ‘Ortho Tec’ is Reusch’s name for their unique version of goalkeeper glove finger and hand protection.
Finger and hand protection is now one of the most important keeper glove technologies around, and Reusch’s Ortho Tec is considered by many keepers to be one of the best.
The Reusch finger protection system uses special hard spines in the back of every finger in the gloves, which flex forwards to allow the fingers to bend naturally, but won’t flex backwards. This stops the football bending your fingers back too far – giving you that extra support when the natural strength of your fingers fails you.
The finger spines are like a knee joint: it flexes one way, but when your leg is straight it won’t bend back any more.
Remember that with Reusch gloves featuring Ortho Tec protection, the spines can normally be taken out of the gloves, so anybody who doesn’t want the extra hand protection can just remove the spines and play as normal.
The other really good thing about the Ortho Tec protection is that the spines can be taken out all together, or one by one. So if you feel you need a bit more flexibility in your little finger, for example – just take out the spine.
Air Vent System
Nobody likes sweaty gloves!
The Reusch ‘Air Vent System’ uses a light mesh fabric around the upper hand of the goalkeeper gloves – the fingers and the edge of the hands – that allows air to flow through the gloves and keeps the gloves fresh.
Air Vent isn’t really the ideal solution for cold and wet weather, for this reason. But for goalkeepers looking for lighter weight gloves, and for gloves for mild and warmer weather, the Reusch Air Vent System is a great feature.
Ergonomic Support System ESS™
The anatomical shaping of the hand and the pre-spreading of the fingers make the Ergonomic Support System supporting a natural catching position. The latex that is slightly pulled up on the little finger side provides a larger catching area and a tighter optimized fit.
Thumbflex™
A special lycra insert embedded in the zone between thumb and palm ensures best flexibility and prevents cuts on the latex.
Pull Loop™
A special feature application on the cuff ensures simple entry also when having moist hands. Pull the loop, slide in and there you go.
Expanse Cut ESS™
This cut is based on an outer seam construction. The latex of the palm is pulled around the small finger nearly up to the backhand side. So the palm is evidently enlarged. Pre-spreaded fingers and the whole pre-shaped hand optimize the ergonomic fit.
R1 Supersolid
The Reusch R1 Supersolid foam is Reusch’s toughest goalkeeper glove foam. Reusch rate the R1 Supersolid 10 out of 10 for toughness and long life. It’s the foam you could use for playing even on hard tough concrete surfaces.
Really tough and long lasting goalkeeper glove foams like the Reusch R1 foam can’t be made to grip so well. That’s just the downside of making tougher latex. The foam isn’t as soft, and so doesn’t grip quite as well, but it’s a great choice for goalkeepers who want their gloves to last a bit longer.
